I was fortunate to be able to attend the probably last official appearance of our Consul Philippe Larrieu. It was pretty moving especially since we did a lot of things together and Philippe Larrieu really helped our community to reach out.
Philippe honored FANiOC with his presence for one of our first mixers back in April. On that day we had a great lunch with UCI chancellor Michel Drake and he also gave a talk at UCI where we met together several Department Chairs. Under his watch, the French Consulate, the French American Chamber of Commerce in Los Angeles and the Alliance Francaise were united in one place 10390 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90025. That is a real achievement and so convenient for all of us.
I will miss him as well as his wife Angélique and their two sons. One was born here so hopefully they will come back and visit us soon.
I posted the video of his speech and you can see it under FANiOC Videos or on You Tube. C'est en francais mes compatriotes.
